Vacations Don’t Have to be Diet Disasters

At least that’s what I’m counting on.

I’m leaving tomorrow for the Deep South – Alabama. We are going to visit my husband’s family. They are not exercisers and they enjoy typical southern fare, such as cornbread made in a black iron skillet, potatoes and red hots (sausages), ‘mater sandwiches, pecan pie, and haystack candy.

Though it’ll be a good time visiting with family, I’ll need to stay focused and structured with my eating and exercising. It won’t be like home where I have my environment cleaned out of all junk food. There’ll be stuff EVERYWHERE!

We’ll also be spending a lot of time in the car driving (and I tend to eat to stay alert). Plus we’ll be staying one night in a hotel so we can volunteer at a food/clothing distribution in the Appalachian Mountains.

With all this travel and change in routine, my goal is to maintain my weight (or at least not gain more than a pound or two). In order to do this, I have to plan ahead and strategize.

Tomorrow I’ll share my plan of attack and hope it’ll help you as you prepare for your summer vacations.
