The day started off with the toilet overflowing into a great big mess on the bathroom floor. The plastic thingy that’s supposed to go back down after flushing so the tank can fill didn’t seal back down. The water kept running and running. Fortunately I heard it before I took the dogs for a walk or the whole house would’ve been flooded.
So I had a giant load of towels to wash besides the regular laundry. Then my boys decided fighting over their K’nex pieces before breakfast was a good way to get the day started. And my puppy ripped the stuffing out of his toy, and chewed up a pencil into shards all over the living room floor.
I have to admit I was on the grouchy side from too little sleep the night before. So my morning trials didn’t help with cheering my mood.
You know what those kinds of days are like. They just get to you. And if you don’t watch it, you can end up with a bad attitude. (Then you end up eating badly and skipping out on exercise because you’re too mad to do anything good.)
Fortunately, I had a reminder tonight at work of how small, momentary, and insignificant my daily trials are. I caught up on news about one of our instructors (and one my friends) who is undergoing chemotherapy.
This lady totally inspires me. She went through surgery and is now under cancer treatment. Her hair has fallen out, she’s sick, and very tired several days out of the week. BUT on the days she does feel well, she’s in at the gym teaching classes.
She is a woman of strong spirit. A fighter. An overcomer.
My difficulties pale ashamedly compared to what she is going through. Yet she presses on. I am inspired by her to keep my chin up, keep pressing on, keep striving for what is good and right, and make each day the best it can be.

Wow…thanks for putting it back into perspective! And I thought I was having a bad day!
