Did you ever run low on groceries and have to scrounge around in the cupboards to find ingredients for a meal? You have to be creative and make something out of whatever you have on hand. Sometimes this can turn out to be a great new dish.
The point is; you used the ingredients you had.
With weight loss, you may be tempted to wait until you feel everything is in place. Your work is going well. Your kids’ sports are finished for the season. You have the money to work with a trainer. There are no upcoming trips or parties. You’re over your cold.
The question is: will there ever be a time when everything is in place?
If you keep waiting for the right conditions, you’ll keep waiting. Everything that isn’t “right” will make a great reason (excuse) for why you can’t work on your weight.
Instead of waiting, look for ways to start working right now. There are always right conditions for working on your weight if you’re willing to be creative.
You could walk during your lunch break, or walk around your kid’s soccer field. You could borrow exercise DVDs from the library or take a class at the community center. You could pack healthy food for your trip or offer to bring a healthy dish to the party. You could eat healthy foods while you’re under the weather even if you can’t exercise.
The right ingredients for weight loss aren’t the “right” conditions. The right ingredients for weight loss are determination, creativity, and willingness.
