I tell my clients over and over to prepare ahead when it comes to food. Flying by the seat of your pants will end up with you flying right into food failure!
Think about when you’re rushed. Do you have time to prepare a healthy meal? How about when you get home from work late and you’re exhausted? Do you have the energy to prepare healthy food? No!
You have to think your days through. What are you going to eat? What do you need to prepare ahead? What do you need take with you?
For example, I’ll tell you about my day. I was home this morning working with my kids for school. So I cooked and prepared all the foods I needed for the day because I had to leave early in the afternoon and be gone for seven hours.
I had lunch before I left. So I packed egg salad, yogurt, almonds, and apple slices to hold me over till I get home. But would be getting home late (and be very tired), so I also prepared my dinner – baked chicken with tomatoes. All I had to do was reheat it.
I also wrote out all my foods and added up the calories in my journal. This way I knew I was on track for the day.
This kind of plan-ahead preparation saves me from food disaster (especially after work when I’m super tired.)
You too can be successful with your diet, but you have to be willing to prepare ahead. Yes, this is work. Yes, it takes planning and forethought. But wouldn’t you rather prepare ahead and lose weight than take your chances and end up with a bad number on the scale?
Preparation makes all the difference in your diet results.
