I’ve been a long-time supporter of yogurt manufacturers, especially Dannon and Stoneyfield Farms. In other words, I’ve bought and eaten my share of yogurt.
My main fare is plain nonfat yogurt. I add a drop of vanilla and stevia, and stir in fresh fruit. Sometimes I’ll eat Dannon Light & Fit.
Which is what got me wondering about yogurt in the first place.
I noticed that when I ate plain nonfat yogurt I felt fuller than when I ate the Light & Fit variety. So, knowing that protein helps you stay fuller longer, I decided to look at the protein content. I was surprised to see that there was a difference.
Then someone at work mentioned Greek yogurt. She said it had a lot of protein and you could get it plain and fat free.
Well, it took me a week to find it, but I found Oikos organic Greek yogurt at the local Walmart. It is great. There are 80 calories in a serving and 15 grams of protein. (I’d have to eat 4+ egg whites to get that same amount of protein). It’s also super creamy!
I know there are other Greek yogurt brands available so shop around. Just remember to check the label for calories, fat, and protein.
To think that all these years I’ve been missing out.
