Make Exercise Your Daily Habit

Everybody needs to exercise. It’s good for your heart, lungs, muscles, bones, psyche, weight, and attitude.

But it can be hard to get in the exercise groove – and it can be hard to stay committed.

I see so many people jump into exercise gung-ho. Oh, they’re getting on the elliptical, trying new exercise classes, and learning the weight circuit. Three weeks later, hmmm, where did they go? Or maybe they even made it three months. Then, bam, they fall off track and don’t come back.

Exercise has to be a regular part of your daily activities, like taking a shower and eating breakfast. It’s simply part of what you do. It’s fixed into your routine. You have to do it that way or you’ll never do it.

To make exercise part of your life, consider these steps:

  1. Find an activity you enjoy and can do with ease.
  2. Get up and get started even if you don’t feel like it.
  3. When possible, exercise with a buddy or a dog.
  4. Look for a greater purpose than just the activity.
  5. Do a little every day and don’t skip.
  6. Let the long-range health benefits motivate you.
  7. Believe it’s possible for you to become an exerciser.
