Keep Your Weekend On Track

Though it’s tempting to “let your hair down” on the weekend, two days of overeating can mess up your whole week. It’s pretty easy to eat so many calories over the weekend that you spend the whole next week trying to burn them off. And trying to get your weight back down!

Instead of letting your food control go for the whole weekend, try limiting your splurges to one or two meals. This will help keep your calories consumption from getting out of hand.

Look ahead to see when you want to use your cheat meal. It could be pizza and movie night with the family on Friday, going out to dinner Saturday night, or having Sunday dinner at Mom’s house (you know she’ll make all your favorites!).

The rest of the weekend, stay with clean, healthy eating. Every time you’re tempted to cheat, remind yourself that you’re saving your cheat for that special meal. You can have what you’re craving when you get to that dinner. You can hold out for it. Then it will be so much more rewarding.

Also be sure to get in your exercise sessions over the weekend. You may not have as much time, but fit them in somehow. Exercise not only burns calories, it helps keep you mentally focused on your weight and health goals.

Weekends are when we relax and refresh ourselves. This doesn’t have to revolve around food. We can enjoy time with friends and family, read a good book or watch a movie, take a walk in the park, or go shopping for a new outfit.

Weekends don’t have to be a calorie blow out. Choose your cheat meal and enjoy it. Then for the rest of the weekend, keep healthy and stay strong!
