I was really frustrated with my weight. Those stubborn pounds just wouldn’t come off. Then I had my physical and the doctor ordered full blood work since it had been five years since it’d been done. The results were encouraging. My numbers were “ideal” the nurse told me. It made all the exercising and food control worthwhile.
You may not be at your ideal body weight. In fact, you may be struggling with your weight right now, feeling like you’ll never reach your goal.
It is especially frustrating when you’re trying your best to diet and exercise, and you’re not seeing the results you want on the scale. You may feel like your efforts are in vain. You may be tempted to give up.
But do you really want to give up and get fat? You know if you quit the healthy choices you’re doing right now (even if you’re not perfect), you will gain weight. You will feel worse than ever about yourself.
When our weight loss isn’t progressing the way we want, and we’re not the size we want, we need to give ourselves a pep talk.
This is all about choosing a healthy lifestyle. It’s not about going on a diet. It’s about having good cholesterol numbers, being strong and having endurance, avoiding diabetes, being fit and toned, and having a quality life. It’s about being healthy now and for the rest of our lives.
Don’t get totally stuck on a number. Yes, you should have goals. You should keep working toward a healthy body weight. But don’t give up just because you’re struggling.
Look at all the good you’re doing for your body already – and keep on going. Don’t let the scale be your stumbling block. Don’t give up!
