I was watching an info-mercial on an exercise system this morning while pedaling away on the elliptical. I should say I was sort of watching it while listening to music on my Ipod. Then something caught my attention
A young man was giving his “testimony” about how great the exercise DVDs are, how he’d lost weight, got fit, and loved doing them. He is a delivery driver and drives a large box van. During his lunch break, he gets in the back and exercises to his portable DVD player.
People in the neighborhood know him (he usually has the back doors open for air). They’re used to him stopping at a certain spot and time to exercise during his route.
Now, that’s commitment. That’s determination. Exercising in the back of a box van during lunch break!
Many times when I ask people why they don’t exercise, they have no legitimate reason. They just don’t get around to it. One person even said to me, “I don’t know. I guess I’m just lazy.”
What’s holding you back from exercise?
Do you think you don’t have the time?
Do you hate to exercise alone?
Do you feel like you don’t know how to exercise?
Do you push exercise to the bottom of your to-do list?
Whatever the barrier, work to overcome it and start exercising. You will feel better, be healthier, get in better shape, lose weight, and become stronger.
Be determined to exercise – even if you have to do get it in during your lunch break (but hopefully not in the back of your delivery truck)!
